It is an American school dictionary recommended for grades 3 to 8. It was published by Simon and Schuster as the Webster's New World Dictionary for Young Readers, ISBN 0-671-41821-1 in 1979. It was also by published by Prentice Hall, Inc. as Webster?s New World Dictionary, Basic School Edition. It is a reprinting of the original dictionary but printed in one color. The original dictionary had some highlighting in an additional color which did not help communicate the content of the dictionary. In this edition the highlighting has been changed to black and the images are sharper and clearer. To ensure long life the binding is being sewn. The paper being used is semi-glossy which ensures high print quality due to less ink dispersal. We have reprinted this dictionary because this dictionary is a less advanced dictionary than the Webster's New World Student Dictionary that replaced it and some of our customers have told us that this dictionary is superior to the current edition of the Webster's New World Student Dictionary.. We were fortunate that the printer found the photo images that were used to make the printing plates. Because of changes in print technology the photos had to be digitized before the plates were made. As a result the print quality is even better than the original and the photos in the dictionary have more contrast which makes the images easier to duplicate.
