Newspaper: Wabash Daily Times Star, Wabash, Indiana. Date: July 16, 1918. Prominent news stories include: Americans help check German drive; Washington confident of final outcome in struggle in France; German offensive breaks down along entire front; First official U.S. war pictures "Pershing's Crusaders" to show at Eagle Theatre in Wabash. Condition: 4 pages, including pages 1, 2, 5 and 6 Very good to excellent condition, with minimal wear as shown. Comes folded or rolled, depending upon existing fold lines. Comments: World War I (WWI), also known as the First World War, was a global conflict fought between two coalitions, the Allied Powers and the Central Powers. Fighting took place throughout Europe, the Middle East, Africa, the Pacific, and parts of Asia. One of the deadliest wars in history, it resulted in an estimated 9 million soldiers dead and 23 million wounded, plus another 5 million civilian deaths from various causes. Fighting ended with the Armistice of November 11, 1918, while the subsequent Paris Peace Conference imposed various settlements on the defeated powers, notably the Treaty of Versailles.
