A GREAT way to replace a CD drive that has went bad on you Plays standard audio format CDs and CDRs Plays MP3 audio format CDRs if you have that feature now No soldering or splicing required Requires removal of radio from the vehicle Do not attempt with radio connected Requires re-using your control board Do not attempt this repair with the radio still plugged in! 6 month warranty DETAILS If you've got a vehicle from the Compatibility List with a radio that gives you errors or will not load or eject CDs (or perhaps it does so noisily), this is the CD drive you need. This is for radios manufactured by Delco only. Be sure to pop the top case off your radio and confirm this is the drive yours uses. (Other versions were quite a bit different.) Removal of the radio triggers the theft system in many vehicles. Please make sure you have your radio code available to you before attempting this repair. If you do not, you will need to enlist the help of your VW dealer after the radio is re-installed. This drive works in some Delco radios. HOWEVER, it is up to you to pop the top of your radio case off and confirm it is the same drive you have. Here is a radio that used this drive, but not every Beetle CD radio was made by Delco. Compare your drive to the picture above: Not a listing for a radio!! This is a CD drive ONLY! Picture for comparison only. In rare instances, you may find replacing the drive does not solve your problem. Occasionally the control board on the bottom of the drive is defective and, if this is the case, replacing the drive will not restore functionality. You must replace the board in this situation. This is very rare but we do see it a couple times out of every 100 purchases. Please contact us for more info. Assembly is fairly easy but we do not include instructions. This drive comes without the control board on the bottom but it is VERY easily swapped from your defective drive. There are 2-3 small phillips screws and 2 ribbon cables with quick dis-connects. You may also need to remove a bracket from your defective drive and swap it to the new one. This is also VERY easy, as it's just 3/16 hex screws. Do not attempt this repair with the radio still plugged in! We cannot stress this enough!! APPLICATIONS It was offered in factory radios manufactured by Delco in the following vehicles, but that doesn't mean it works for you just because your vehicle is listed. Make sure yours looks like the drive pictured.
