St Teresa of Calcutta ? Mother Teresa ? Exclusive AI-Restored Photo! ? 3 sizes ? Vintage Catholic Art St. Teresa of CalcuttaExclusive Restored Photograph Anjeze Gonxhe Bojaxhiu (1910-1997), known later on legal documents as Mary Teresa Bojaxhiu, was known to the world as Mother Teresa. She was world famous for a life devoted to the poorest of the poor. She was the main symbol in the latter half of the 20th Century to billions of people of what the devout Catholic life meant. She brought holiness to the world. She was a beacon of Christ's love. She converted countless people to the cause of Christ by living a life of virtue. F - f In her childhood she was fascinated by the lives of the missionaries, and by age 12 she was resolved to enter the religious life and live in service to other. This picture was taken when she was 18, just shortly before she entered the Sisters of Loreto, an Irish community of nuns with missions in India. In 1950, she received permission from the Holy See to start her own order, "The Missionaries of Charity."The primary mission of her order was to love and care for the poorest people, the ones who had been abandoned by everyone else. Within a few decades her order had over 4000 nuns and 133 mission houses. Besides the nuns, she had enlisted over 1,000,000 "Co-Workers" who helped with her far-flung enterprise. In 1979 she was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. Presidents would have her over, and she would publically scold them for their support of abortion. She relied completely on Providence. It is difficult to overstate her influence on the world at that time. (source: nobelprize.org)See our other exclusive restored photos of other Catholic Saints here at our store.
