Item description

MYANMAR Pick#....................67 Banknote Book # 101a Denomination ....1 Kyat Date.....................1990 Condition?...?.UNC Comments?...... General Aung San in Army uniform at left front. Dragon carving and lotus on back. Watermark: Aung San or is it his daughter, (pro-democracy activist) Aung Sang Suu Kyi? The BBC reports "The artists who produced the note - when they did the watermark, softened the features of the General, so that if you held it up to the light, you had a secret portrait of Aung San Suu Kyi". Who knows for sure, but the note was withdrawn shortly after production. View the watermark and security strip on the 2nd image. More information on this note and other hidden messages on notes at my Tripod web site, Currencyden. Burmese: Kyat (pronounced as chat) literally means "round" and "flat". Kyat has been used in the 19th century as unit of mass, approximately 16.33 grams. Printer: SPW See my store for earlier Burma notes. See my other notes from this country. Image is not exact note in lot. NEVER A RESERVE !! CURRENCY DEN I combine shipping - all lots after first mailed FREE!
