The tribes would carry their goods with them when they traveled. When they arrived in a new settlement, they sold the goods and traded the lambskins for new wool. With this wool, they wove rugs for their own use and also to sell to other people who came to their settlements. These original Moroccan Berber Rugs were simple in design and functioned simply as an overlay on top of another piece of furniture or garment. As mentioned above, these rugs are made out of hand-spun hand-knotted wool. Designs / Patterns on the Moroccan Beni Ouarain Berber Rug: The most common designs on these rugs are geometric, though floral patterns are also prevalent.
