Item description

Lectures on primitive Christianity: in doctrine, experience, worship, discipline, and manners, as it appeared in the Church at Jerusalem, in the time of the Apostles by Benjamin Wallin. Very rare 1801 First Edition Antique Book Printed for John Boggs, Jun. by Bonsal and Niles, in Market-Street, Wilmington. Hezekiah Niles was an American editor who formed a partnership with Vincent Bonsal, a Wilmington printer and bookseller. They specialized in job printing - a nineteenth-century term traditionally defined as printing that uses display type and no more than a sheet or two of paper. Pages are discolored and foxed as expected for an item this age, but clean without writing except for the owner's name --John Ryley-- on the inside front cover. The book plate says William Ryley -- his father -- and the name of his mother, Margaret Ryley is written in the back (according to a note found inside the book). Font free endpaper at the front of the book is ripped.
