Preparation Here's how: 1) Brown 500g beef (e.g., from the leg) in 1 tablespoon of hot oil all over. 2) Add 500ml water, bring to a boil, and stir in the seasoning. 3) Cover and braise the Sauerbraten over low heat for about 1.5 hours. Turn the meat halfway through. Slice the meat and let it simmer briefly in the sauce.
