Item description

1:72 Scale Metal Diecast – B-17 Flying Fortress Bomber "A Bit O' Lace" – Length: 13" Wingspan:17.25” This B-17 model has 8 gun positions, with gun barrels sticking out. One has to be very careful while handling the model or even when looking to place it to rest as it has gun barrels sticking out everywhere and can be easily bent or damaged. The chin, dorsal, ball and tail turrets can move; the gun barrels can elevate and the turrets can rotate. The model includes two pieces to cover the bomb bay, one in the normal closed position and one in the opened position showing two bombs inside. Two sets of landing gears are included, one for the extended position and one for the retracted position. THIS MODEL SHOULD ONLY BE PLACE OVER ITS LANDING GEAR OR ON THE DISPLAY STAND. DO NOT PLACE IT OVER ITS TUMMY (with no landing gear) as the ball gun turret under the model can be damaged. The model includes a metal stand where the model can be attached for display. The stand is made entirely of metal, it is very sturdy and it is actually held together by a nut/screw assembly. The photos don't really make justice to how impressive this model really is, at 1/72 scale this model measures just about 13 inches long and has a wingspan of about 18 inches wide. There are some movable surfaces on the wings and tail. The maker of the model, Air Force 1, really did a good job with the model, the panel lines and details are very crisp and one can see the little dots that represent the rivets holding down the panels. This is really a "no-play" model or a "display-only" model. It is mostly metal and very heavy. It also has a number of antennas which look great but are very fragile. If you have small kids that like to play with your models, save yourself some frustration (and money) and wait till later to get a model like this one. The box is labeled as not suitable for children under 14. The box is 18.5 inches long by 15.5 inches wide by 5 inches high and looks like a little suitcase (it has a little plastic handle).
