Item description

Applied Finite Mathematics by Hunkins Mugridge (1981 HC w/o DJ) . Author: Dalton R Hunkins . Author: Larry R. Mugridge (1940-2014) Illustrator: Phil Carver Friends, Inc. Production Editor and Designer: Nancy Blodget Publisher: Prindle, Weber Schmidt Boston, MA U.S.A. 1981 Undergraduate math textbook. Includes 330 examples and over 1420 exercises (answers to odd numbered exercises in Appendix D). Topics proceed from linear equations to matrix algebra lines of best fit. Linear programming problems solved through the simplex method. Probability theory, basics, counting and Markovian chains. Applications using random variables prepare the student for Game Theory. Finally the mathematics of Finance and computer usage are discussed. Appendices include math tables and basic computer programs. Dalton R Hunkins currently teaches cybersecurity at St. Bonadventure University, while Larry R. Mugridge (1940-2014) is retired as a math professor from Kutztown State College. Hardcover has white cloth boards with black lettering shadowboxes on cover with full color illustrations (blue shadowbox on spine), but no Dust Jacket. Interior is tight and mostly unmarked (more underlining comments in early chapters, none in latter chapters). Shows handling, but still has square corners with few indents. Always privately owned. Size: 8vo - over 7 - 9" tall, 538pp. Condition: Good Hardcover w/o Dust Jacket – Always Privately Owned. Copyright 1981. Stated 2nd printing, September, 1981, of this 1st edition. ISBN: 0-87150-306-9. LCCN: 80-29563. PWS catalog 33L 2441. No MSR. Notes on Condition/Edition ratings: Fine – means like new, but any book produced over 10 years ago isn't “brand new”. Booksellers needed some word to describe this... Like New – A new book, no marks no damage (except maybe remainder marks or shelf-wear) except not obtained directly from the publisher or in packaging from the publisher. Very Good – How you or I might take care of a book, closer to “as new” than standard. Might show ownership. Good – How someone else might take care of a book. Also referred to as “standard.” The most likely condition for books of this age title, shows the book has been read or previously owned. Acceptable – How a child, student or a librarian might take care of a book. (Either trying to make sure someone doesn't steal it by plastering ownership everywhere, filled it with copious notes or a book that has been damaged.) Poor – Combination of “acceptable” factors above. Most likely with water damage as well. Might have missing pages (you should ask). Near – Means “almost” in an optimistic sense. e.g., “Near Fine” means very good, but on the high end. 1st Thus – Unique somehow, maybe 1st paperback, new illustrator, misprint or even the 1st edition. A collector might desire this copy. Thanks for looking!
