It features an old Aermotor windmill that has seen better days but it's still working hard. What the artist has to say about this print - "Windmills have always been a favorite subject for me. They were a lifeline for the early settlers and with the invention of the electric pump, seemed destined to becoming an obsolete part of our vanishing rural scene. Now, due to our energy problems, many of the old Windmill companies have resumed production and we will have these graceful machines to enjoy for many more years. This fine Windmill is on the Anchor X Ranch". Image size is 11" x 15". Overall size is 12" x 16". It was published by Boutwell in 1979 in an edition of 500. About the Artist: Born in East Hartford, Connecticut, in 1943. After his Mothers untimely death in 1945, he and his father traveled around the country and by the time he started the First Grade in San Antonio, Texas, they had lived in Connecticut, Vermont, Maine, New York, Indiana, Michigan, Tennessee, California and Texas. George spent most of his life in Austin and moved to Bosque County in 1987. George was Art Director for Texas Highways Magazine from 1966 to 1972 and became aware of the diversity of Texas during that time and this awareness has become the focus of his life's work. George has refused to specialize in one Genre of Art and only limits the scope of his work to Texas. He has been able to make his living exclusively from his Art for 40 Years! George was too poor to afford Art Lessons and due to his failing half a year of High School because he was sitting in class drawing cars instead of studying his grades were not sufficient to enter College. He read every Art book he could find in the Public Library and practiced continually, doing 100 sketches per day for one year! When he was finally able to afford Art Lessons it was because he had become a full time Commercial Artist.
