The book was written by Jake Page and Charles Officer, has a 2004 copyright date and was published by Houghton, Mifflin Company. It is in very good to like new condition. There is only very slight wear at the corners and edges, of both the cover and the paper dust jacket. The spine and binding are good, and all 239 pages including index are intact and in good condition. This is a very nice book and a great story in history… In the early 1800’s a series of gargantuan earth tremors seized the American frontier. Tremendous roars and flashed of eerie light accompanied huge spouts of water and gas. Six-foot high waterfalls appeared in the Mississippi River, thousands of trees exploded, and some 1,500 people-in what was then a sparsely populated wilderness- were killed. A region the size of Texas, centered in Missouri and Arkansas, was rent apart, and the tremors reached as far as Montreal.
