New upgrade Turbocharger Compressor Wheel for 1994 through 2003 Ford 7.3 L turbodiesel engines (Garrett GTP-38 and TP-38 turbochargers). OEM part number is 170293. This style wheel is often referred to as the "Wicked Wheel". This wheel will reduce and/or eliminate surge problems associated with the stock wheel and improve low-end throttle response. Wheel will also produce a more pronounced "whistle" over the stock wheel. This is the same wheel that is marketed under different names - they are all the same wheels and have 5 long and 5 short vanes with an inducer size of 59.8mm and exducer size of 80.00mm. I thought the old wicked wheel was OK until I removed it. The tips of the blades were paper thin and a couple were bent.
The new wheel was installed and the rebuild kit. What a difference. It was actually quieter and a hugh power difference. It'should a pretty easy rebuild. Go for it.
