Antique vintage embossed copper enamel wall decoration made in Armenia in the Soviet era 1980s or even early in the 1970s which evokes the poem “The Unsilenceable Belfry” by Paruyr Sevak Armenian poet about Komitas.
Paruyr Sevak (January 24, 1924 – June 17, 1971) was an Armenian poet, translator and literary critic. He is considered one of the greatest Armenian poets of the 20th century.
The poem “The Unsilenceable Belfry” is the most significant creation of the great Armenian poet Paruyr Sevak. It revives the tragic fate of an outstanding musician, composer, scholar, and great son of the Armenian people Komitas.
At the same time, this is a poem about the high and difficult quest of the Armenian people on the path to social and spiritual liberation.
Soghomon Soghomonian, ordained and commonly known as Komitas was an Armenian priest, musicologist, composer, arranger, singer, and choirmaster, who is considered the founder of the Armenian national school of music. He is recognized as one of the pioneers of ethnomusicology.
