This 14 gauge steel 7.5"(approx.) diameter combat grade functional medieval shield boss comes with 6 pre-drilled holes and all the hardware for a quick and easy install on your shield. A shield boss, or umbo, is a round, convex or conical piece of material, usually metal, at the center of a shield. The boss deflects the sword blow, protecting the shield, which is usually made of wood, and at the same time damaging the blade of the enemy?s sword. This historically accurate hand forged 2.5? (approx.) high convex steel boss is perfect for mounting on your own round shield. It has a dimpled natural shiny steel finish.
