Item description
Vintage 8 x 10 in. US double-weight matte photograph (not a vintage original) from the teens silent film western short, KNIGHT OF THE TRAIL, released in 1917 by Mutual Film Corp. and directed by William S. Hart. A cowboy must regain the love of his fiance, who has found out about his past as a thief and bank robber and broken off their engagement. In her anger at him, she agrees to marry a no-account who, unknown to her, is planning to take her money and leave her at the altar.
The image depicts an interior shot at the bar of a saloon as the bartender (Leo Willis) pours a drink for Jim Treen (William S. Hart) as other cowboys stand nearby. This photograph is a frame blow-up that was printed on a high-end matte stock and features a rich tone. It is in very fine condition as shown.
Provenance: John E. Allen Inc. Collection.
