By the time of the release of this map, the County Seat, Denton, had become well-known regionally, and the University of North Texas would become one of the area's best institutions for higher education in 1890. Denton developed a bustling Jazz community during the twentieth century and holds the Denton Arts and Jazz Festival annually, which attracts artists, musicians, and tourists from across the globe.
