I was wondering, How long it took to get your first sale?
I know I need to be patient but I dont know how much patience I have l it seems to be taking a long time.

This is a tough question as there are so many variables to consider, however, with the weirdness of the world right now all that can really be said is give it time. I myself list new items daily, constantly advertise on social medias, update photos and blurbs and I list on multiple selling venues and cross sell thru them. Even doing all that my sales are still not where I want them. But, one thing to keep in mind is here at Bonanza you really have to do a lot of your own advertising, this is not a bad thing, but, if the thought of the item doing the work for itself even remotely crosses your mind….stop! That is not how this or any other site works. If our stores fail, that is on us, no one else. I see so many people blame the sites for their failure and nothing could be further from the truth. Patients and perseverance….that is what this whole online thing is about. The competition is beyond fierce out there and every single customer is price checking for the lowest possible price, Bonanza even advertises competition pricing right within our own booths as that is how they and every other site make their $$. One of the great things here at Bonanza is you list for free and pay nothing until it sells (depending on how you are set up), so, other than time you are not losing anything by having your listings here. Good Luck to you and hopefully it will all work out in the end!

It depends as others have said…
I first joined 6/17/2009 with CindyBear..spent about a week setting up and making listings..then went live about a week later
Told those that bought regularly from me on ebay that I will no longer sell there and if they wanted my bears they would have to come here…(and I have not sold or bought since on ebay)
One of my ebay customers was my first sale here on 7/2/2009. This booth did very well for about 3 years…then things slowed down..about the time google started charging to be listed in google shopping…I have been phasing out the teddy bear collection and spend little time on them now
My second booth (ccmom)
I set up on 7/1/2009 for toys, books, games new and used…though now mostly new stuff and is my main booth now
First sale 8/9/2009
My third booth is trinketbox opened 2/7/2010
for misc used items from my parents and mother-in-law who all died in the same year. This one I open on occasion but is closed for now
First sale 2/14/2010…
But again in those days google shopping was free and there was a mass migration to other sites…
And though many are buying online now because of COVID..(I did have a massive spike in sales last Mar-May..on my own website… when many were staying home, once some states started limited opening, the sales went back to what I usually see)…there are many more that are unemployed or watching their finances now and keeping online purchases to needs instead of wants

I joined Bonanza (when it was Bonanzle before the name change) 12 years ago and had my first sale about 6 weeks later. But those were much different times with not nearly as many venues out to sell things as there are now. While I agree with MANY of the selected Best Answer of what Fantastic Finds mentioned, I must interject that I never needed to put much of any effort into my auction site listings. I just listed and they sold (or not). I dont do social media stuff and never needed to do so for Ebay. I advertise here at the 9 pct level.
This is really a great site, but it does have some quirks until you have mastered them (I am still mastering after 12 years here) however there is really no excuse that this should be a lesser known site for as long as it has been in existence. Room for improvement for the management here to get the site BETTER known is putting it mildly so to speak. It should NOT be ONLY on the backs of the sellers here to do so in my opinion but it is what it is. Good Luck here.

I originally got here some time around 2009 under another name.
I feel like it was by luck that I sold my first item. Bonanza… formerly Bonanzle was fairly new and lots of times when someone got their first sale, so many sellers were ecstatic for that seller.
But anyways, the reason I think it was luck was because I happened to promote a vintage pantyhose listing right here on Bonanza that was great for a bride to wear on her wedding day. A seller who was getting married just happened to c the promo and bought the listing. I think I had been on here for a month. I cannot remember what I sold after that
I did have a few sales here and there in the beginning…maybe 3 or 4 sales a month, maybe just sometimes 2 but yes, every month something.
My first booth though, I’ve thought back on it once in a while, was very average. I thought I was doing it right….meaning pictures, descriptions, and what I had for sale and price point, too. But that was not the case. Sellers definitely evolve….some take longer to evolve (goes for other sites also) and then sometimes sellers hit it spot on right off the bat.
There is no clear answer other than to think outside of our own box, fill titles out, try your best to leave no room for shoppers needing to ask questions since it’s best to give complete descriptions. Think of as if u r the shopper looking at your own listings….hard to do. Offering a deal on shipping for multiple items purchased I think made a difference for me but I also have some like items and some more than one of the same items…, which you do, too.
I do not like doing social media. I find it to be nonproductive for my booth personally.
It’s true about Bonanza not being as well known. For me I try to work it so that my items for sale are not on the internet in mass quantity. This way shoppers tend to surf the internet for the items they need and not just the well known sites like Amazon and eBay.
My booth has hardly been open for the past 1.5 years due to issues I’ve had. In March I should be open like I used to be and I’m hoping when I plug my computer back in it will work. It will be an amazing moment for me when I know I am going full fledge back selling on Bonanza again.
I do enjoy selling here out of all of them.
Best of luck.
Sharon

Hi there, it depends on how many items you have listed & it is on demand following with the situations & other competitors. I had my first sale on bonanaza after 2 months listing items regularly. Started on October, got my first sales early this month with a few transactions now. Patience & hardwork is the key. Hope this helps.

There are a lot of factors that enter into getting your first sale. The greater the number of items listed will get your booth seen by more eyes, What you are selling, Is there demand for those items at the prices you are asking. Where is your advertising set? It should be at a minimum of 9% so Bonanza can place ads for you on Google Shopping. How are your listings set up, do you have good complete searchable titles. Then you top that of with some patience. Bonanza is a selling platform, Think of it as having your own site, but with some guidance help and technological support. Best Wishes to you here.

I feel your desperation. I’ve been here since July, offered discounts, have had my items added to wish lists, but I still have 0 sales.
I’ve also asked this question and the best answer I got is that this is an unknown website that doesn’t have a healthy community of shoppers.
For print on demand I recommend Society6. The fees that they pay you are miserably low, but sales have spiked for a lot of people during the pandemic. As for the first sale, it depends, it took me 3 months to get my first sale on Society6, other people I talked to said 2-3 weeks, 1-2 months, 6 months, 12 months.
I just started uploading designs on Redbubble as well, I did get a few sales, but haven’t been managing that store long enough to give an informed opinion. I do know that their print quality isn’t very good, but their packaging and branding are strong so they’re a really popular platform.
Another website I tried is Etsy, I got my first sale in my second week! But there are so many hidden fees and other problems with Etsy that personally I really can’t deal with it, I’d rather hold on to my mental health.

Problem is that they do not advertise and not many know about this site. I’ve been on it since they started and maybe two sales a year. Lately I stopped the buy it nows on Ebay so they are not imported to Bonz… I bet if they turned this into an auction site they could compete with Ebay but they are set in there ways… so be it. I sell alot on Ebay despite there greed. Bonanza needs a change!!

Sales here are slow no matter what you are selling. People don’t know about Bonanza and prefer to buy elsewhere.
