Bonanza won't accept my (active) debit card?

I am new to Bonanza and was excited to sell, but the only problem is that when I go to booth set-up it tells [URL removed] We couldn’t process your credit card. Please check to make sure that you entered all the fields correctly – I have check, re-checked, checked over 20 times – even called my bank. My debit card is active and has been accepted by other online sites. Currently, I have over 200 items for fall and winter and have stopped selling on ebay because of fees, etc.. I would love to sell on Bonanza, but since there is no 800# I can’t speak with anyone in customer support to help. I did fill out the contact support several times since Sept. 20th and still no response because it only generic titles and if you don’t fit into one of those titles, Well, you get no support. Also, my paypal was accepted no problem, can anyone advise me on how to speak with someone at Bonanza
Thanks

This is an official Bonanza response.

Hi Fashionizzta,

So sorry to hear about the trouble. To confirm a seller’s identity, our system will do a dummy charge to your account of $0.11. The charge will remain pending for 3 days then fall off of the account. Some banks may place a block on unauthorized charges under $1.00, so you may want to check with your bank about that.

The most common reason we see for errors is if you are entering a different address on Bonanza than the address that was recorded at the time you received your Debit/Credit Card. Try entering in the address that you used when you got your card and see if that does it. The credit card billing address MUST match the address in your Bonanza account settings (even the formatting must be identical), and the CVV must match exactly.

Be sure that javascript is enabled and allowed and cookies are allowed for Bonanza.com and braintreepayments.com.

If you are still having trouble you may want to call your Credit/Debit card company and see if they can clarify the reason that your card is being declined.

Hope that helps. Let us know at support if you are still experiencing issues!

I had the exact same problem. Bonanza kept telling me my card was not active, and it was. I use it everyday….So i went to my bank, talked to them about it, they saw a phone number to call, they called it while i was there, and this company apparently that handles these things, restricted bonanza from using it! so it was being shown to bonanza as not being active! So i talked with my bank, and they cleared it with this other company to be used, they told me if it happens again, I may have to get a new card, which I dont want to do… so i tried again, it was finally accepted thru Bonanza, and seemed to be ok till I got another message from bonanza saying they could not use it to pay my fee’s!! So I have a debit card from Paypal i had to use. I still use that card today, so im not sure what was up with it.

I will contact my bank (again) because I don’t understand why this has happened because I use the same card on other sites. Thanks very much for your help and letting me know that I am not the only one this has happened to.

Your very welcome. Let me know what your bank says. I never did resolve it with Bonanza, I just chose to use my paypal debit card, so i would be curious to know how it turns out for you.

I just had a week of similar trouble. If your debit card is backed by Visa ask the bank specifically to check for flags from Visa. It isn’t always immediately obvious to bank employees that your account has such unanticipated problems; I had to talk to two bank employees. Though Visa had no problem with me confirming to eBay, they were suddenly not sure I was me when I began trying to confirm the card to Bonanza. Surprisingly, Visa may never tell you it’s flagged you for suspicion that you are not you even after a week has passed. As odd as that is, if this is indeed also your problem, know that getting in touch with Visa to confirm your identity can clear your booth for activation within literal minutes.

I just had similar difficulties….but mine had an easy fix. I tried to list my first item and was then directed to finish the set up page….prompting me to enter the credit card details with the tick that the address matched the set up address. Card was not accepted because of blanks in the address even when I manually entered it in full. The blanks in the address related to the address of the account not the credit card. Easy fix – select previous step button from the bottom left of screen and it will take you back to filling in your full registered address on Bonanza, next screen you can tick the use same address button….and result! :)
