Appreciate assistance with several questions - newbie.

Hello. I am new to this site and am complete in setting up my shop. I would like to have a custom banner and avatar made and would like to know if anyone can suggest someone who can design one for my shop?

We have been on-line sellers for many years on another site and I just have a few questions.

I have opted out of google shopping since there is a cost when an item sells. Are items automatically listed on google and Bing though?

I have set up my categories for jewelery items that appears on the side bar of my shop. When I have listed a jewelery item, does it automatically list in the category that I have chosen, i.e. ring, etc. Or do I manually have to list it in the category?

Since I do not have fixed shipping costs since it varies depending on destination and value, when a customer makes a purchase and I receive the purchase order, do I add the shipping cost and resend it to them with the new charge so that they know the total amount for their payment with paypal? Or do they add the shipping cost which I would list on the listing page and pay automatically?

Thank you so much for your assistance.

1) there are many here that do custom banners…just do a site search. Dee has many lovely banners that she offers for free

2) Items will be in google/bing organic searches…however, if you opt of Google Product Search…you will probably not get items seen..that is just a fact…and the way google works most of time now.

The fee varies on whether the items sells as a result of a google ad click (from google shopping) and the max it can be is 9% FVF…if the item sells from an internal bonz search or a click from anywhere else, ie pinterest, twitter, facebook, blog, or generic searches from other search engines, the fvf will be the 3.5%….there is no up front fee, and you are only charged if it sells as a result of an ad.

Mine is set for 9% and I have never paid more than about 8.5% fvf….

3) If you are doing custom categories, you can opt to have the items go to the categories either manually (you put them in using batch edit) or automatically (but the category name has to in the title or description somewhere so that search and place it in a category)…this also can cause problems of certain words used in descriptions that might accidentally get items placed in wrong categories..so you will have to keep checking.

If you are using site categories, then you put the items in the cats while doing the listings

4) If your items do not have shipping costs then they will be considered listings with Missing Fields and will not be active…you have to put something there..

If you use the See item description option, then your orders will come as Offers for you to add shipping (careful, it is a very tiny link in the invoice..and most sellers miss it) and approve and then your buyer will have to come back and complete…checkout…)

Advice 90%+ of the buyers are not going to come back and complete checkout…they would prefer to just “Buy it Now”

It would be best to put in a flat rate shipping for the items and then use the Discounts on combined shipping options under you Edit Booth Options Discounts and Coupons…if your items are going first class, destination does not matter..the cost is the same (unless it is International and that is a separate set up)..if you are using priority…I am going on the assumption that most of your items are small and light weight so they can either go small flat rate or less than 1 pound priority..which max cost would be $6.51…at least until the next increase.

There is an option for you to add insurance (required or optional) or any other fee associated with shipping (signatures etc…just add in the insurance option), if this is a concern about using a flat rate shipping
