At Cords of Penance, we handcraft rope disciplines intended for the religious practice of spiritual discipline, i.e. the mortification of the flesh through self-flaggelation. Our scourges are made of sisal or cotton rope and come in different lengths and sizes/ thickness of rope and have different numbers of falls (traditionally three, seven or nine) and knots per fall (usually either one or three).
We are a small family business located in rural North-East Ohio where we make, and from where we ship our disciplines.
