Why do we exist?

My first job as a teenager was working at a major pizza chain. When I was hired, they asked how many uniforms I would like to purchase. I needed 5 to get through the work week until I could get to the laundromat to wash them. After working 60 hours my first two weeks, my first paycheck was $0.08. The rest of it went to uniforms….

Fast forward a few years, I switched jobs and started working for a major retail store. Again, they required a uniform – and supplied only 2 dress shirts. I couldn’t get a third, even if I wanted to buy one. At the time I lived in an apartment with no laundry facilities – so every day after work I washed my uniform by hand, hung it up to dry, and hoped the second uniform I washed the day before by hand was ready for the next day.

Then one day I met someone who worked at a local thrift store, and I mentioned where I work. They told me they had a few uniforms from where I worked donated that day – and they dispose of them! Something I would have loved to have went to the dump.

This is when we began our business – we contacted local thrift stores, charities, and anyone else that had uniforms they either disposed of or sold in their stores, and started collecting them. Over the last 25 years we have sold on various online and in-person platforms as a hobby.

We rescue pre-owned, vintage, and even the odd new with tags uniform and get them in the hands of workers. We work with many customers to get them uniforms they are looking for – and even a few franchise owners who want to give their employees a break on uniform costs (or even themselves).

Most of our uniforms go back to work where they belong – and out of the landfill and clothing recycling. Some even have been featured in TV and Film productions!
