In 1956, Koichi Tsukamoto traveled to the US to learn all he could about the intimate apparel industry. When he returned to Japan, he launched Wacoal. In 1985 the company decided to give back by starting Wacoal America—a move that also proved it could compete with the country that inspired it. In 2009, Wacoal created b.tempt’d, a lingerie brand designed to show off Wacoal’s youthful side. If Wacoal wanted to appear even more useful, they could design a line of footie pajamas.
