In America, the bingo game was originally called "beano". It was basically played in the countryside where a dealer would select numbered discs from a cigar box and players would mark their cards with beans. They yelled "beano" every time they won.

However, the version of the game we know nowadays came from Europe. When the game reached North America in 1929, it was still known as "beano". It was first played in Georgia where a New York toy salesman renamed it "bingo" after he overheard someone accidentally yell "bingo" instead of "beano”. A bit later on, in the thirties, a Catholic priest from Pennsylvania used this game to raise funds in churches. This was how bingo game became so popular in American society.

75 ball Bingo cards 

Each bingo game card has 24 different numbers with a free spot in the center with 5 columns. Each column on a bingo card starts with one of the letters in the word BINGO. The column letters are used to group and more easily identify the numbers contained in each column below. The distribution is as follows:

B five numbers from 1 to 15
I five numbers from 16 to 30
N four numbers from 31 to 45. The central spot is always free, so no number in it.
G five numbers from 46 to 60
O five numbers from 61 to 75

Unlike 90 ball bingo game, American bingo has a huge variety of patterns to hit. The winner must be the first one to have all the numbers included in that particular pattern.

The most basic patterns can be a straight line in any direction: vertical, horizontal or diagonal. Other patterns include three or the four corners of the board, shapes such as the letter T, a kite, a sword, an arrow o even a spider.

Introduction to Bingo 90

90 Ball Bingo is a game traditionally played in the United Kingdom, Australia and other countries of the Commonwealth. The game is similar to the American 75 Ball Bingo, where the cards include a pattern. Players just try to be the first ones to complete the winning pattern.

In 90 Ball Bingo, cards have three rows and nine columns. Five squares in each row contain numbers ranging from 1 to 90, while the rest are blank.

The game is played with 3 patterns. Each of the 3 patterns has a prize associated with it. The patterns are called One Line (1st part), Two Lines (2nd part), and Full House. Random numbers from 1 to 90 are called on the Bingo Call Board. The first player to correctly cross off a horizontal Line, then Two Lines, and finally all of the numbers on a ticket (Full House), wins the prize for that pattern.

Each individual face (grid of numbers) is called a ticket. 90-Ball Bingo tickets consist of 3 rows by 9 columns. Each row contains 5 numbers and 4 blank spaces.

A strip is a set of 6 tickets containing all 90 numbers, distributed throughout in a Dab-All format. When a strip of six tickets is played in one bingo game, every possible number from 1-90 is covered and therefore, a number is crossed off at each bingo call.
