Welcome to the fall 2014 issue of Vivace, Des Moines Metro Opera’s bi-annual newsletter. We are pleased to be able to send you this publication thanks to the City of Indianola, the Indianola Chamber of Commerce and Willis Auto Campus. Their generous sponsorship enables us to provide this beautiful newsletter to you, our subscribers, patrons and friends. I hope that after reading this issue, you will make plans to join us for this year’s upcoming performances and events.

After a robust year that included five new opera productions as well as lectures, events, concerts, parties, rehearsals and educational activities, the 42nd Festival Season closed on July 20. We are pleased to share with our patrons the exciting results of one of our busiest and most active years ever! The previous season continued our commitment to inspire audiences from around our region and the world to make Iowa their choice destination for opera. Patrons joined us from 34 states, two foreign countries, 61 Iowa counties and as far away as the British Isles! Once again, audiences also came to us from every zip code in the Des Moines metro area and our ticket sales exceeded goals and expectations.

Des Moines Metro Opera programming touched the lives of 77,000 individuals this last year through our mainstage productions, broadcasted performances and educational
programming. Audience and critical reaction to the season couldn’t have been more positive, with one national critic from Opera Today remarking, “Italy may have something they could learn from Indianola.” All of these successes were accomplished within our customary balanced operating budget and demonstrated our longstanding
commitment to achieving artistic excellence within the boundaries of fiscal responsibility.

The Des Moines Metro Opera (DMMO) is based in Indianola, Iowa, a town of approximately 14,000 located 12 miles south of Des Moines, Iowa. DMMO was founded by Dr. Robert L. Larsen and Douglas Duncan in 1973.

A summer opera festival, the company usually performs three operas in rolling repertory during June and July. Although created as an opera company for the Midwest, the company's audience base has grown over the years. As of 2008 it claims audiences from some 35 states and several foreign countries. The company also sends its educational arm, Opera Iowa, to sites throughout the state from fall through spring. Typically a troupe of several singers, a pianist and technical director, Opera Iowa has also traveled for educational performances in nine neighboring states and participated in exchange programs with like organizations in Japan and China.

We do offer combined shipping for multiple lots, so IF YOU ARE PURCHASING MORE THAN ONE ITEM, PLEASE LET US KNOW ...and wait for us to send you an invoice with a combined total and a combined shipping total. DO NOT SEND 2 PAYMENTS...Paypal charges us a transaction fee on each payment you send, so only 1 payment for the combined items will be accepted. You are responsible for sending the correct amount, so pay close attention that you are sending the correct amount. Overpayments will not be refunded...it takes too long to recalculate, refund payments and start from square one.

Buyer to pay shipping. I offer combined shipping. By default, I ship to the confirmed PAYPAL address (if thats how you pay) unless otherwise instructed. Actual shipping may vary from what item states, but we try to keep it as close as possible. It could be less or more, based on weight of item and distance it's gotta travel! I try my best to keep your shipping costs very reasonable! Combine multiple items for savings on shipping costs! PLEASE DO NOT SEND PAYMENT UNTIL YOUR TOTAL IS GIVEN FOR MULTI-ITEM PURCHASES.
