This unique, vintage boutique dress has a lot going on and I'll do my best to describe it. There's a very basic tag that says the fabric is a Rayon Blend, no breakdown. It's soft and has a little stretch. Parts of the dress have a check pattern and parts are striped. The colors are black and what seems like a subtle goldish blend. It's not just gold, maybe gold with bronze or copper. There's a drop waist (it's hip length for me). Below the waist line is a short skirt that's on top of a longer skirt. The top & short skirt have the checked pattern and the long skirt has horizontal stripes. The bottom of the long skirt has a 14.5" slit in the front that's to the right of the center. There's a wide belt with vertical stripes attached on the right seam at the waist line. The belt has 2 pieces,1 piece goes around the back and the other around the front. The 2 pieces meet off center in the front and attach together with a large, black button. The top front of the dress has a striped "bib", almost like the front of a sleeveless shirt, that goes from the shoulders to the waist line. The sides of it are open, it's just attached at the shoulders & waistline. The back top of the dress has a cape that hangs from the top to about 1/3 down. Attached from the bottom corners of the cape is a draping rectangle of fabric. The 2 pieces are attached with large, decorative, non-functioning buttons (same as the belt's) on the corners. This cape & rectangular piece both have the same horizontal stripes as the front bib and long skirt. The pictures do a much better job of explaining these details!

The tag says it's a size small, but it seems much bigger to me.  Please check the measurements.
