Item Description:

Mackinac State Historic Parks Old Mackinac Point Light Station Limited Edition Sculpture.

Old Mackinac Point Light Station was established in 1889.  Reminiscent of a medieval castle, the lighthouse was completed in 1892.  It was operational until the Mackinac Bridge opened in 1958.  The bright Fresnel lens guided ships through the Straits of Mackinac,  a maritime crossroad between Lakes Huron and Michigan.  The compound, just under an acre ins size, also included a red brick Fog Signal House and a storage barn.  The property was surrounded by a picket fence until the 1920’s.  Mackinac State Historic Parks continues restorations of the lighthouse and grounds.
