Item description for Vintage Aztec Mayan Face Mexican Silver Turquoise Earrings Screwback

These are a pair of great looking vintage Mexican Aztec Mayan Warrior figural earrings. The screwback fixtures are marked Alpaca, which is not Sterling Silver, but the earrings themselves are stamped with what appears to be a different signature. I can read on the back of one of the earrings a partial “ARLO and PORT”, the other earring has stamping under the backing, but all I can read is “MEX”. It is possible the backings are a different material than the earrings themselves and may be sterling, but they have not been tested for silver content. The crushed inlay stone looks to be Turquoise, but again I am not positive as to the composition.

These earrings are in nice vintage condition as you can see by the enlarged photographs. I have not polished them as many people prefer the patina that only comes with age. Depending on your own taste, I will leave any polishing up to you; you can keep them in the same condition with the original patina or polish them. The turquoise stone inlay chips are intact. The screwback closures function properly and are secure on the ears. The backs do show their age and wear.
