Vintage Antelope Gazelle Chi Wara Chiwara Headdress Silver Brooch Pin
Mali African Bambara Tribal Figural
Handcrafted Hand Crafted Artisan
Ethnic Ritual Ceremonial Dance
Filigree Cut Out Design

This is a stunning figural brooch or pin of a graceful gazelle or antelope. The detail and attention to craftsmanship is amazing. This appears to be a representation of the African Mali Bambara Antelope ceremonial dance headdress of Chi Wara. The headdress was made to honor Chi Wara, a divine being tied to agriculture who taught man to cultivate soil. I have included a photo of a sculpture of Chi Wara. The brooch measures approximately 2 ½ inches tall by 1 inch wide. It is unmarked and has not been tested for silver content, although I was told it is sterling silver, I cannot guarantee that it is sterling. It weighs .20 ounces on my postage scale, which converts to 5.67 grams

This brooch is in great vintage condition as you can see by the enlarged photographs. I have not polished it as many people prefer the patina that only comes with age. I will leave any polishing up to you. Please look at the photos as they are part of the description and show the details better than I can describe.

This would be perfect for any animal lover. If you are interested in African culture, it is a beautiful piece of wearable art.
