Vintage Pegasus Winged Horse Pewter Brooch Pin Mythology
Figural Greek Mythological Creature
Flying Divine Horse God
Prancing or Rearing Stallion

Mystic

This is a lovely vintage figural pewter brooch or pin. It is in the shape of the beautiful horse with wings called Pegasus, from Greek Mythology. Pegasus (sometimes called Pegasos) is the symbol of wisdom and strength. Pegasus was said to be the son of Poseidon, king of the ocean and Medusa, the monster with snakes in her hair. The brooch could be worn in two different directions, horizontally as a prancing horse or on a vertical diagonal, which gives it the appearance of a rearing horse (see pictures).

The brooch is in excellent condition as you can see by the enlarged photographs. It is not signed and I'm not positive, but I believe it from the 1980s. It has been in the drawer for quite some time. There is a similar one that is being sold today, but if you look carefully you will see the difference in the details, the shape of the face and the positioning of the legs. It measures approximately 1 ½ inches long by 1 ½ inches tall. It has a standard rollover clasp.

It is perfect for anyone who enjoys Mythology or horses. It would look great on the lapel of a jacket or as an accent accessory for any outfit.
