This is an unusual vintage highly detailed Dragon Viking Ship that was made in Spain. It is not the typical Damascene Ship brooch you see everywhere. The focus on this piece is more on the Dragon than the ship. The Dragons head and neck make up the figurehead on the bow of the boat, the body is the hull and the curled tail shape is the aft section of the sailboat. It is under full sail with the sheet raised and the flag blowing in the wind. You can even see the ocean waves beneath the ship. The hull of the ship has detailed medallions with images on them as well. It is quite 3 dimensional. The etchings cover every part of this brooch.

It is in excellent vintage condition as you can see by the enlarged photographs. It is stamped SPAIN near the bottom of the boat on the back of the pin. It looks more like a pin you would see from Scandinavia, Sweden or Denmark rather than Spain. The silver metal has a dark patina to it and I have not tried to polish it since many people prefer it that way, I will leave it up to you. I don’t know if this is pewter, sterling or some other type of pot metal. It measures 1 1/2 inches across and 1 3/4 inches tall. It weighs .4 ounces on my postage scale, which converts to 11.33 grams. Please look at the photos as they are part of the description and show the details better than I can describe.

This would make a great addition to your collection of vintage jewelry. It would be a fantastic pin to wear to a Renaissance Festival or Fair. If you love dragons, this is the pin for you! I have not seen another one like it anywhere.
