Rare, vintage Avon of Belleville Mazer, Boucher Sterling vermeil big bow brooch accented with a luminous, cultured Pearl circa 1950's.
Very elegant, beautifully designed and executed this sterling brooch measures 2 1/2" x 2" inches at the widest point ( 6.05 cm x 5 cm ) and signed STERLING AVON in capital letters, total weight is 17 grams.
Not to be confused with Avon Cosmetics Corp.
This brooch has substance and superb workmanship which is very different from the lower quality Avon/perfume jewelry.
The Avon of Belleville jewelry company was founded by Abe Mazer in 1945 in Ontario, Canada with the trademark registered as "AVON” in capital block letters.
Avon of Belleville jewelry has heft, there are also the magnificent designs of Mazer and Boucher that instantly sets this jewelry apart.
Marcel Boucher designed much of Avon of Belleville's jewelry and his four digit code number is found on many pieces.
Condition: There is some, normal wear to the vermeil, mostly on the edges, the brooch is in excellent condition, the Pearl shows no wear and the pin back closure is secure.
