This highly collectible jar from the 1940s was designed by Red Wing's premier designer, Charles Murphy. She is called "KATRINA" - the Dutch Girl. Katrina the Dutch girl was first manufactured by Red Wing pottery of Minnesota in the 1940s and proved to be quite popular. The cookie jar came in many colors: yellow, blue, green. Expert collectors have confirmed that the white and the tan & brown combination are the rarest. Our Dutch Girl "Katrina" cookie jar, has long, bowed braids, an apron and a pointed, winged bonnet. Her apron is bowed with a ginormous bow which floats down the back of the cookie jar bowl. She is in EXCELLENT condition with the exception of a small glaze chip on her apron's edge. There is a dimple in the glaze, on the front of her apron (see photos). She has some darkening of glaze on the bottom - due to the fat content in cookies stored in her bowl over the years of use. There is very fine crazing over the entire piece. No other known flaws.
