Purple Pooch started out with a lavender background, then I played with some scraps of lilacs before coming across the purple/yellow hydrangeas, and the piece used just about every scrap of that fabric that I had. For a while I had a lovely circle of the hydrangeas and could not decide on what should go in the center - and then I found the fuzzy purple cloth about the same shade as the flowers, and knew it wanted to be a puppy! I found a picture uploaded to Webshots of a little white Maltese puppy; her breed may reach 4 pounds at maturity, so this picture might actually show her full-sized or even a bit bigger than her full-grown size.

The little tag is made from polymer clay.

My artwork is mounted on foam core, which creates a light-weight but rigid piece with a wire for hanging and  a felt backing. It is treated with a sun-block spray, although prolonged exposure to direct sunlight may eventually cause fading.
