Antique / Vintage Atlas E-Z Seal QUART canning jar with the dropped A logo. Clear glass with raised lettering and tons of character. Twisted wire bail and lightning jar closure.

From an estate sale found in canning area of the basment.

Numbers 14 2 are embossed on the bottom of the jar along with a J and the H/A logo for the Hazel Atlas Company.... this marking are hard to make out in the pictures. The jar has longer neck and old-style sloping shoulder. These characteristics date this jar from the early to mid 1920's.

Great storage for kitchen, home, office, or perfect for display. Like so many of these wonderful old jars, this one shows some slight wear with a bit of rust on the glass from the wire bail, texture and bubbles on the glass.

About 7 1/2" tall x 3 5/8" diameter

VERY GOOD - EXCELLENT condition, no chips, lips are clean and smooth.

A Little History

The Hazel-Atlas company was in business from 1902 to 1964. During 1940s and '50s, the company was one of the largest producers of canning jars along with competitors Ball and Kerr.

The E-Z Seal is a lightening jar, a design which has a distinctive glass bubble lid or stopper clamped to the jar with a wire bail. The wire is permanently affixed to the neck of the jar and the bail swings up "quick as lightening" to hold the lid, hence the name.
