This is a lovely pair of gold-toned base clip earrings with a carved rectangular design single piece insert. I'm not sure what it is made of; it is a fabulous jet black color of either glass, Lucite or plastic. The black inserts are surrounded on both sides by ten (10) brilliant round clear rhinestones and finished at the bottom with silver Marcasite style dots.

The earrings are both marked "Craft"© on the back. Craft is one of the signatures that was used by Gem-Craft Jewelry from Rhode Island. Gem-Craft jewelry was founded in 1945 by Gene and Alfeo Verri after WWII. According to research, the company also made jewelry for Kenneth J. Lane, Kramer and others. Gene Verri worked as a head designer for Coro and many of Coro's designs are credited to him. These are most likely from the 1970s or 1980s.

These earrings are in good vintage condition and measure 1 inch tall by 1 inch wide. There are cushioned pads that have been glued to the clip (obviously for comfort). I did not try to remove them, you can see that they aren't in great shape. There is some gold finish wear on the back and sides normal for the age and use. There are no cracks or breaks in the inserts.
