Vintage Diaz Santoyo CJB Earrings Sterling Silver Green Onyx Mexico
Pierced Ears
Designer Artist Signed
Mexican Jewelry Artisan
Master Silversmith
Classic Teardrop Shaped Stone
Hand Wrought Handcrafted

This is a beautiful pair of vintage Mexican earrings made by the well-known designer and jewelry artist, Diaz Santoyo. They are hallmarked stamped on the back “DIAZ SANTOYO” and below that in a circle is “PLATA 925 CJB”.  Plata indicates Sterling. This artist is featured on page 174 of “The Little Book of Mexican Silver Trade and Hallmarks” by Bille Hougart (2006 edition).  I believe that CJB stands for the silversmith who worked with Diaz Santoyo.

The earrings have a gorgeous classic tear drop shape. In the center of each earring is what I believe to be a green onyx stone. The actual stone is a little darker green than the photos reflect (the picture in the hand is the most accurate for color). The stone is bezel set and surrounded by a rope and bubble like ball design. They are for pierced ears, but you could easily change them to hang from clips. These hang down approximately 2 inches, including the French hook. Each earring is 1 ¼ inches long and ¾ of an inch wide.  The earrings weigh .30 ounces on my postage scale, which converts to 8.50 grams.

These are in great vintage condition as you can see by the enlarged photographs. The silver has a nice patina that only comes with age, I have not polished them or cleaned them, I will leave that up to you if you so desire. There are no chips or cracks. Please look at the photos as they are part of the description and show the details better than I can describe.

This lovely pair of earrings would look great for a special evening out with that little black dress or perfect for daytime wear with your favorite pair of jeans. These would make a nice addition to your collection of vintage Mexican silver jewelry.
