Crankshaft Position Sensor (CKP)
What It Does:
The Crankshaft Position Sensor is required by the computer to locate the crankshaft position which is used by the computer for ignition timing and fuel injection timing control. Location: The Crankshaft Position Sensor may be located behind the harmonic balancer, on the front of the crankshaft, inserted into the transmission bell housing or directly into the engine block at the crankshaft level. Failure Symptoms: Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL) illumination, engine no-start/no-spark condition, occasional cylinder misfire, engine die-out or no-start after extended driving condition with an engine re-start after a cool down period.

Ubicacion: el sensor de posicion del cigüeñal puede ubicarse detras del equilibrador armonico, en la parte delantera del cigüeñal, insertado en la carcasa de la campana de la transmision o directamente en el bloque del motor a nivel del cigüeñal. Síntomas de falla: iluminacion de la luz indicadora de mal funcionamiento (MIL), condicion sin motor / sin chispa del motor, falla ocasional del cilindro, apagado del motor o no arranque despues de una condicion de conduccion prolongada con un arranque del motor despues de un período de enfriamiento.
