This charming antique stoneware earthenware pottery crock came out of my own family's Maine estate. It has two stubby handles with holes - typically you'd find a wire and wood handle attached. The only marking I could find is "4" on the un-glazed bottom. It stands 6 inches tall, 2-3/4" diameter opening, 4-3/4" diameter base. It has a gray-beige glaze finish. Looks very similar to a Confit Pot which may be especially true with the French influence in the Maine area.

The condition is as shown in the photographs. No chips or cracks, but does have crazing and natural imperfections. The inside bottom has grime and a couple stuck pennies.
