This listing is for a gorgeous handmade piece of ceramic pottery - a scalloped 7" plate with design - a sage green color.  Signed on the bottom - Handmade by Monette.  I bought this piece in Kentucky from Monette's son.  Monette died in 2013 at the age of 89 in Owensboro, Kentucky (obituary below).  Her son told me that she did ceramics years ago, so I'm assuming this piece is quite old.  A very nice, unique piece!

Alice Monette Overton Hayden, 89, of Owensboro died Friday, July 19, 2013, at Twin Rivers Nursing & Rehabilitation in Owensboro. She was born April 14, 1924 in Fulton County, Kentucky to the late Harry and Lillie Fleming. She was employed by the Daviess County Clerk's Office, the Boyd County Clerk's Office and DeAmron Building Systems. She was a lifelong member of First Christian Church. She was a "Victory Girl" during World War II and was active in the AmVets Ladies Auxiliary and VFW Auxiliary. She volunteered at the Opportunity Center for 20 years, was PTA President at West Louisville Elementary School and was a Bookmobile Driver for the Owensboro-Daviess County Library. With her husband Jay, she opened and ran Overton's Cafe in Curdsville, Kentucky. She loved flowers and being with her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her first husband, John C. Overton in 1973, her second husband, Joseph A. Hayden in 1986; and by siblings, Louise Keller, Allen Fleming, Chester Fleming, Jessie "JC" Fleming, Harry Fleming, Jr. and Dorothy L. Gipe. She is survived by two sons, Michael D. "Mike" Overton (Maria) of Owensboro and Charles E. "Eddie" Overton (Eyvonne) of Lexington, KY; a daughter, Elizabeth A. Schroeder (Wayne) of Owensboro; grandchildren, Kathleen Overton of Louisville, KY, John David Overton (Beth) of Lexington, KY, Kimberly A. Denton (Benjamin) of Louisville, KY, Jennifer L. Grimes of Sellersburg, IN, Bradley W. Schroeder of Owensboro, and Michael E. Overton of Owensboro; great grandchildren, Madison L. Grimes, Jacob C. Grimes, and John R. Schroeder; a sister, Mary Elizabeth Benton of Lexington, KY; and several nieces and nephews. Services are 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 23, 2013, at the Chapel of James H. Davis Funeral Home & Crematory in Owensboro. Burial is in Rosehill Cemetery in Owensboro.
