Vintage Antique Japanese Satsuma Style Vase with Moriage Geisha Child Flowers.

This colorful, handmade and hand painted, earthenware vase from Japan (I believe circa 1950’s), depicts a Geisha and child over a pretty floral background, a large flower (on back) and handles in the shape of Foo Dogs. The vase was thrown on a potters wheel as noted by the ridges on the inside of the piece. It was probably made for the American market. The vase is heavily enameled and gold gilded. It is in very good, pre owned condition considering its age. There are some imperfections found and believed to have mostly been made at the time of manufacture. There are several areas where the red paint smeared prior to drying or was not filled in. The base has a small slice and fine crack on its rim. There is a dimple on the front of the vase body which was glazed over as well as several light scratches on the side of the piece. Please look carefully thru all the photos for more detail on condition. The base is stamped, “MADE IN JAPAN” as well as a hand painted signature. This piece is from the estate of an Asian pottery collector.
