Meet Burdock, a two-for-one plant that's both a culinary delight and a potent medicinal herb. Historically valued for its deep roots that are harvested for various culinary and health applications, Burdock is also quite the looker in the garden with its large, woolly leaves and round, purplish thistle-like flowers. Burdock can make a positive addition to your herbal tea blends or gourmet meals. With this hearty, easy-to-grow heirloom, you'll have the pleasure of growing your own health-boosting herbs right in your backyard.

GROWING INSTRUCTIONS:
Start seeds indoors 6-8 weeks before the last frost date, or sow directly outdoors in early spring or fall. Plant seeds 1/4 inch deep and keep the soil consistently moist until germination occurs, which typically takes 7-14 days. Transplant seedlings outdoors after the last frost, spacing them 12-18 inches apart in rows 24-36 inches apart. Burdock prefers full sun to partial shade and well-draining, fertile soil. Water consistently and provide ample nutrients for best results. Harvest roots in the fall of the first year or the spring of the second year. Young leaves can be harvested throughout the growing season.
