It deals with young ladies and men in matrimony, flirting, trials of life, home amusements, fops and dandies, envy, slander, vanity, fashion, dress, reputation, courage, obstinacy, Ambition, fame, prayer, the conjugal relation and much more. A virtual how to manuals for young Christian ladies and men in the late 1800s.

Fair condition for the age. Some cracking on hinges. Moderate to heavy cover wear and soiling, including edges and corners, spine lightly rubbed at head and tail, some text foxing, plates browned. Some text soiling and wear. Good shaken, interior front hinge almost seperated, ffep detached but present with edge wear, first 4-8 leaves working loose. It measures 6 1/4" x 8 7/8" x 2 5/8". A wonderful find.
