Following World War II, the Japanese ceramic industry was one of the first to be revitalized. During this time Japanese ceramic manufacturers began producing ceramic knickknacks that were initially sold to the occupying American soldiers. Within a short time, an active export business, especially to the United States, was underway.

This listing is for a ceramic French Bulldog figurine from that time period. It's marked "Japan," so is probably from the 50s or 60s. It's made from a bisque ceramic and finished in a light brown (or blonde) lusterware glaze. This figure measures approximately 2 inches tall to the top of the ears and 1 3/4 inches wide at the widest part. Very good vintage condition with no cracks or chips.
