The 1899 Cent is part of a series of Indian Head, Shield Reverse (Bronze) coins struck from 1864-1909. Struck in Philadelphia and designated as a Business (MS) strike, this coin is made of 95% copper; 5% zinc & tin from a mintage of 53,598,000 struck.
The 1899 Indian Cent is a common issue in the Indian Cent Series that would make the ultimate type coin. Circulated coins are extremely common and accessible. In order for uncirculated coins to be scarce and valuable there must be partial or complete red coloring. The finest gems can be rare.
