Comes with hardwood mallet and removable legs that allow the instrument to be set in an upright playing position or set flat on a table. In the summer of 1996, Tree Works Chimes was created by Mitch McMichen. It began in his garage in Nashville, Tennessee. The first set of chimes was made with a hacksaw and a hand drill. It didn't look like much, but that was the first step to crafting the perfect set of chimes. When asked about the early days of Tree Works, Mitch replies, "I wasn't trying to start a company. I was trying to find a sound. " Since then Tree Works Chimes has grown to become the most respected chimes in the percussion world - used by top studio and touring drummers and percussionist as well as the top 24 drum corps. These instruments are still handmade in Nashville, Tennessee and are unmatched in craftsmanship and sound quality.   • 5 TreeWorks exclusive alloy bars — we use only custom mill runs of a tempered titanium/aluminum alloy, certified to spec and quality tested — the chimes are then tuned by ear one at a time with a gradual change in pitch (no preset assembly-line cutting)
  • Tennessee hardwood mantle — only select Tennessee hardwoods are used to make the mantle for all TreeWorks Chimes — the selection consists of black walnut or white ash, both from managed forests — the final oil finish is applied by hand for a high-end look
  • No plastic ties are used — the chimes are secured using TreeWorks' proprietary CordLoc, a composition of fibers chosen for extraordinary strength (think miniature repelling rope) — this cord is braided and individually secured around each bar by hand
  • Includes 1 hard polymer mallet — an 8" long mallet with 1" diameter hard polymer head is included to produce a bright attack note with plenty of sustain to fill any space with ethereal sound — also included are two wooden mounting pegs for upright playing
  • No musical background required to play — all the pitches of the bars complement each other, meaning no musical training is required to play — strike the bars in any order or pattern and sweep across them with the beater for a unique sound effect
