Archangel Michael Art Print

This Archangel Michael is a stained-glass window made in 1915 by Powell & Sons for St. John’s Church in Wiltshire, England. It is from our favorite series of the Archangels, including Gabriel and Raphael. It is Art Nouveau towards the end of that movement, an art style we especially love. Art Nouveau was a beautiful blending of high art and folk art, featuring the elegant arrangement of organic forms. We love the lush, casual beauty of Michael here, his nonchalance as he overpowers the devil. Such utter calm in battle! It speaks of his perfect trust in God. And, as in the other two pictures, the Angel has all the colors because he is from Heaven, and things not of Heaven are less colorful, less real. (source: historicengland.org.uk)Standard size.
