Dissolution of Eternity introduces four weapon power-ups, eight additional monsters, four new deathmatch games, and various environmental hazards to Quake. While the previous mission pack featured tombs and cathedrals, the three episodes in this game are set within temples and shrines. Each level is massive to the point of becoming disorienting.

Monster standouts include the invisible Phantom Swordsmen, multi-grenade tossing ogres, and a sheathed Overlord that hurls homing balls of carnage. The new ammunition is welcome but makes the game easier, as multi-rockets, grenades, and lava nails obliterate foes within seconds. Hazards like earthquakes, buzz saws and pendulums are surprising yet troublesome additions.

Nicely designed team games include standard two- and three-team Capture the Flag, One Flag and Tag. New items for deathmatch are the Grappling Hook, which reaches far corners of the level, and the Vengeance Sphere, which seeks out foes. Dissolution of Eternity is an overall solid addition to a near-perfect shooter.

From the Manufacturer: The Quake Mission Packs expand on the blockbuster FPS game Quake. In Quake Mission Pack No. 2: Dissolution of Eternity, the evil leader Quake has fashioned a world of chaos, pain and violence. Gamers must annihilate his minions trough two hazardous episodes: Hella€™s Fortress, which depicts the darkest ages, and The Corridors of Time, a historically warped environment set in a past gone horribly mad. Once players have navigated the slaughter strewn 16 levels, they can jump into specially designed deathmatch levels or play an enhanced version of the hottest Quake game -- Capture the Flag.
