Kiln Craft Charles and Princess Diana 1981 Wedding Made in England Commemorative English Ironstone Coffee Mug

This is a 1981 mug Made in England by Kiln Craft commemorating the 1981 "Wedding of the Century" of Prince Charles and the Lady Diana Spencer. The mug is new old stock and unused.  It holds 8 ounces and features black and white photos of Prince Charles and Princess Diana on each side and their wedding crest on the side in between.  The mug was made in Stafforshire England and is English Ironstone pottery.

Held in St. Paul's Cathedral, London on July 29, 1981, the ceremony was a traditional Church of England wedding service.  Notable figures in attendance included many members of royal families from across the world, republican heads of state, and members of the bride's and groom's families. Their marriage was widely billed as a "fairytale wedding" and the "wedding of the century". It was watched by an estimated global TV audience of 750 million.  The United Kingdom had a national holiday on that day to mark the wedding.  Unfortunately, the "fairytale ending" was not to be, the couple separated in 1992 and divorced in 1996.
