Pre-owned Canon AF35M autoboy 35mm point & shoot camera

The camera is NOT WORKING CORRECTLY.  When I put fresh batteries in, I was only able to click the shutter once or twice and then it wouldn't fire again unless I pulled the batteries out and opened the film door.  I don't have time to try and figure out what's wrong with it but hope that somebody will know how to fix this and get it working again.  This is too good of a camera to not try!
